USA Halloween Experience: 21 and still trick-or-treating!

USA Halloween Experience

I’m a bat. My sisters are witch sisters. My brother is Steve from Minecraft.

*Ding-dong! (doorbell rings)* –*door opens* –*say “Trick-or-Treat!”* — *stranger giving you tons of calories* –*say “Thank you”* That’s the Halloween cycle.

5 years ago and 10 years ago. The former is the last time I wore costume for Halloween and the latter is the last time I went trick-or-treating. This year’s halloween, I had the chance to do both dressing-up and trick-or-treating again. Halloween in the United States is a huge celebration so I have to experience it.  I am 21 years old but I don’t care. Age is just a number. So, why not be a kid this Halloween and celebrate it together with my sibling by dressing up and trick-or-treating?

I was so indecisive of my costume. Thirty minutes before the Halloween parade,  I tried to make my skeleton-inspired costume but it didn’t end up well.
*lightbulb appeared*
Ten minutes before the parade, I just grabbed some garbage bag, made it into ears, and pinned some on my back. Tadaaaa! I instantly became a bat!

I noticed that Americans really prepare for Halloween. They dress up even though they are just staying their fully decorated house to give candies to trick-or-treaters. That made my experience more memorable.

Lessons learned:
1.) You can still go trick-or-treating regardless of your age. Age is just a number. If you want to go trick-or-treating, go for it. No one is stopping you, other than your hesitations.
2.) If you are a procrastinator, you can still throw a last minute costume without spending a lot. Just look for stuff in your closet and garage that you can use.  Squeeze out your creative juices!
3.) It’s more fun to go trick-or-treating with siblings and friends than go trick-or-treating alone.

How about you? How did you celebrate Halloween? I’ll be glad to hear from you! 🙂

  1. My children and I just had our first US Halloween too. It was brilliant fun. We loved seeing how creative people were with decorating their houses. My 4 year old likes your bat costume.
