NYC Easter Parade 2014: Hats Off to their Easter Bonnets!

Did you know that New York City has held an Easter Parade for over a hundred years now? This year’s Easter Sunday, I had the opportunity to see that parade. I’ve heard that this parade is one of the New York traditions dating back to the mid-1800s when the social elite would parade their new fashions down Fifth Avenue after attending Easter church services.”Paraders” wore fancy clothing, from elegant to outrageous, with their festive Easter bonnets during the said parade.

Compared to most NYC parades, the Easter parade is a less organized one. There are no floats and marching bands. You need to help yourself look for the paraders, but it is a spectacle nonetheless.
